Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade set between two protective wings. The rear sight is a fully adjustable aperture sight set between two protective wings. The windage knob is marked with "Left” twice and two arrows and "DRC". The elevation knob is marked 2-12 in increments of 2.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The wood stock has a semi-pistol grip, metal nose caps, stacking loop, double sling loops, and a metal butt plate with hinged door for storage. The LOP measures 13”. This stock set appears to be a modern production stock that has been re-stamped with period correct markings. The wood shows some very light handling. There are no chips or cracks. The door spring is strong. Overall the stock is in Excellent+-Like New condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is well defined. There is no erosion or pitting in the bore. Our gauges show a muzzle of 0+-1 and the throat of 0+. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9.75/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The finish shows very minor scattered handling. The friction surfaces of the bolt and receiver show very minor rub wear. The markings are clear and the screw heads are sharp. Overall this rifle is in Excellent+ condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: This Springfield Armory M1 Garand was originally manufactured in December 1943, during the height of World War II when the M1 Garand was proving itself on battlefields across Europe and the Pacific. As the first standard-issue semi-automatic battle rifle adopted by a major military power, the Garand gave American troops a tremendous advantage in firepower and reliability, serving with distinction through World War II and the Korean War. This example is fitted with a Springfield Armory barrel dated August 1940.

This rifle has been completely refinished and presents in almost like new condition. It has been installed in a new-production walnut stock set that has been carefully re-stamped with period-correct military inspection markings, faithfully recreating the appearance of an original World War II service rifle. The barrel is exceptional, rating 9.75/10 with a muzzle erosion reading between 0+ and 1 and a throat erosion reading of 0+, indicating almost no measurable wear and outstanding accuracy potential. For collectors or shooters who appreciate the look of a factory-fresh wartime Garand but desire the reliability and appearance of a completely restored rifle, this December 1943 Springfield is an outstanding example.
