Sights/Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade with a serrated face dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable elevation u-notch screwed into the barrel.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is two piece wood with a straight comb, straight wrist grip,12-rib forend, and a checkered synthetic Winchester buttplate. The buttplate has heavy wear. The furniture shows pressure dings, scuffs, scratches, and tape residue. The LOP measures 12.75" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are cracks located at the upper tang, lower tang, and forend. The furniture rates in Fair condition.

Type of Finish: Blued

Finish Originality: Original (has a Model 62A barrel replacement)

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 30% of it's original finish. The barrel finish is strong showing only a few minor scratches and thinning. The remainder of the firearm has little finish with patina, light pitting, scuffs, and scratches throughout. The screw heads are lightly tooled and retain turnable slots. Overall, this rifle rates in Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Winchester Third Model 1906 was manufactured in 1915 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Winchester, the Model 1906 was designed as a more economical companion to the Model 1890 and became one of the most popular slide-action rimfire rifles of the early 20th century. The Third Model variation reflects the later refinements made during the rifle's long production run.

Chambered in .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle with a 23 inch barrel, this rifle has been fitted with a replacement barrel from a later Winchester Model 62A. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates a perfect 10 out of 10, indicating exceptional internal condition. The action functions correctly.

This rifle retains approximately 30% of its original finish, showing significant wear consistent with age and service. The furniture rates in Fair condition with visible handling marks and wear. Overall, this rifle rates in Good condition and stands as a functional Winchester 1906 with a high-condition Model 62A replacement barrel and excellent bore.
