Sights/Optics: The front sight is a blade dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable elevation square-notch screwed into the barrel.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is two piece wood with a straight comb, straight wrist grip, 12-rib forend, and a checkered synthetic Winchester buttplate. The buttplate has minimal wear. The furniture shows light wear with a few pressure dings, drag lines, and scratches. The LOP measures 13.25" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There is a faint crack running from the upper tang. The furniture rates in Very Good Plus condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp with light fouling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 50% of its original metal finish. The finish shows edge wear, scratches, freckling, and frequent patina. The screw heads show little to no tooling and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Winchester Model 1906 was assembled during the 1930s to 1940s from existing factory inventory and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Winchester, the Model 1906 was introduced as a more affordable companion to the Model 1890 and became one of the most popular slide-action rimfire rifles of the early 20th century. Late production and parts-cleanup examples assembled from remaining components are occasionally encountered from this period.

Chambered in .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle with a 20 inch barrel, this rifle maintains the versatile configuration that made the Model 1906 so successful. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9.5 out of 10, indicating excellent internal condition with strong rifling. The action functions correctly.

This rifle retains approximately 50% of its original metal finish, showing honest wear consistent with age and use. The furniture rates in Very Good Plus condition with attractive presentation and solid structure. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition and stands as a strong late-production Winchester Model 1906 with an excellent bore and attractive wood.
