Sights/Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable elevation u-notch screwed into the barrel.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is two piece wood with a straight comb, straight-wrist grip,12-rib forend, and a smooth metal buttplate. The buttplate has some light scratches and edge wear. The furniture shows light wear with some pressure dings and occasional scratches. The LOP measures 12.75" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are two cracks near the heel of the stock where it meets the buttplate. The furniture rates in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is grey and the rifling is lightly worn. There is a faint squib ring near the muzzle. There is faint pitting throughout the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 6/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 85% of its original metal finish. The finish shows edge wear, surface scratches, operational marks, and occasional patina. The screw heads are unmarred and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Winchester Model 1890 3rd Model was manufactured in 1915 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Winchester, the Model 1890 was John Browning's highly successful slide-action rimfire design and became a mainstay in galleries and small game fields across America. The 3rd Model variation reflects refinements made during the long production life of this iconic pump rifle.

Chambered in .22 Short with a 24 inch barrel, this rifle retains the classic gallery rifle configuration that made the Model 1890 so popular in its era. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 6 out of 10, showing moderate wear consistent with age and use. The action functions correctly.
