This lot consists of 20 Winchester Repeating Arms Company .45-75 Winchester cartridges, an important early big-game and military cartridge introduced in 1876 for the Winchester Model 1876 rifle. Developed during the post-Civil War expansion into the American West, the .45-75 WCF offered increased power over earlier lever-action cartridges and saw use among frontiersmen, hunters, and even the North-West Mounted Police. Today, original examples represent a tangible connection to the era of big-frame Winchester lever guns and late 19th century ammunition development.

The cartridges are housed in a period Winchester cardboard box with internal tray, though the lid is no longer present. The box retains its original printed reloading instructions on the side panel, offering a glimpse into the practical, user-oriented packaging of the time. The cartridges themselves feature brass cases with lead bullets, consistent with black powder era construction, and remain arranged in the tray as intended.

Condition reflects age and storage. The box shows visible wear, discoloration, and handling marks consistent with long-term survival, while the cartridges exhibit tarnish and oxidation to the brass. Several of the lead bullets display light frosting, typical of antique ammunition.
