Sights/Optics: The front sight is a beaded post dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable elevation u-notch dovetailed into the barrel.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The refinished furniture is two piece wood with a straight comb, semi-pistol grip, smooth forend, and a smooth metal buttplate. The buttplate shows faint edge wear. The buttplate does not fit flush to the wood. The furniture shows a few old blemishes that hjave since been finished over. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13.25" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The furniture rates in Very Good Plus condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp with stubborn fouling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its nonoriginal finish. The refinish on this firearm was well done. The finish shows only a few spots of old pitting that have been finished over. The screw heads are unmarred and retain turnable slots. The markings are fairly clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good Plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This wartime Winchester Model 63 was manufactured in 1945 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. The Model 63 had already earned a reputation as one of the smoothest and most dependable semi-automatic rimfire rifles of its era.

Chambered in .22 Long Rifle with a 23 inch barrel, this tube-fed semi-automatic rifle maintains the classic sporting configuration favored for small game and recreational shooting. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9.5 out of 10, indicating excellent internal condition. The action functions correctly.

This rifle retains approximately 99 percent of its nonoriginal metal finish, presenting an exceptionally clean appearance. The refinished furniture rates in Very Good Plus condition with strong structure and attractive presentation. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good Plus condition and stands as a sharp late-war 1945 Winchester Model 63 with a high-quality refinish.
