Sights/Optics: The front sight is a beaded post dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is a u-notch adjustable for elevation dovetailed into the barrel.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The refinished furniture is two piece wood with a straight comb, semi-pistol grip, smooth forend, and a smooth metal buttplate. The buttplate shows very little wear with some residue from the stock being refinished. There are sling swivels attached to the forend cap and buttstock. The furniture shows a few pressure dings, light surface scratches, and some drag lines. There is a faint crack at the top of the butt where it meets the buttplate. The LOP measures 13.25" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The furniture rates in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its original metal finish. The finish is very strong showing only infrequent surface scratches The screw heads show little to no tooling and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good Plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This postwar Winchester Model 63 was manufactured in 1946 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Winchester during the first full year of resumed civilian production following World War II, the Model 63 represents Winchester's return to the sporting market. The rifle carried forward the proven semi-automatic tube-fed design that had made the model popular since its introduction in 1933.

Chambered in .22 Long Rifle with a 23 inch barrel, this rifle maintains the classic sporting configuration suited for small game and recreational shooting. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates a perfect 10 out of 10, with exceptional internal condition. The action functions correctly.

This rifle retains approximately 98 percent of its original metal finish, presenting an unusually strong example for a 1946 production firearm. The refinished furniture rates in Very Good condition with solid structure and light handling wear. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good Plus condition and stands as a sharp early postwar Winchester Model 63 with excellent bore condition and strong finish retention.
