Sights/Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is a u-notch dovetailed into the barrel. The elevation adjustment piece is missing from the rear sight. A Weaver scope is mounted on a folding Pachmayr base to the side of the receiver. The glass is clear and the scope rates in Very Good condition. A vintage rubber scope cover is included.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The refinished furniture is two piece wood with a straight comb, semi-pistol grip, smooth forend, and a checkered metal buttplate. The buttplate has light finish wear and some old oxidation spots. The furniture shows infrequent pressure dings, scratches, and old blemishes. The LOP measures 13.25" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are no chips or cracks. The furniture rates in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 85% of its original metal finish. The finish has scrub marks on the barrel part way through the finish, light scratches, and a spot of pitting on the barrel. The screw heads are unmarred and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This postwar Winchester Model 63 was manufactured in 1947 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Winchester during the early post-World War II return to civilian sporting arms production, the Model 63 was already well established as one of Winchester's most reliable semi-automatic rimfire rifles. The 23 inch configuration reflects the standard sporting profile of the era.

Chambered in .22 Long Rifle with a 23 inch barrel, this rifle is equipped with a Weaver scope mounted on a folding Pachmayr base attached to the side of the receiver. This period-style side mount setup offers a distinctive and practical optic arrangement. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 10 out of 10, indicating exceptional internal condition. The action functions correctly.
