Sights/Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable elevation u-notch dovetailed into the barrel. A Weaver Marksman M 1"-4X scope is mounted on 1" Weaver rings mounted to a rail screwed into the receiver. The glass is clear, the scope rates in Very Good condition.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The refinished furniture is two piece wood with a straight comb, semi-pistol grip, smooth forend, and a checkered metal buttplate. The buttplate has light wear. The furniture shows scattered pressure dings, scuffs, and scratches. The LOP measures 13.25" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There is a crack on the right side of the forend running from the receiver. There is another crack running from the upper tang. There is a chip at the top of the butt where it meets the buttplate. The furniture rates in Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There is light erosion at the muzzle end of the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 8/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 75% of its original metal finish. The finish shows edge wear, scrub marks, very light pits, freckling, and occasional patina. The screw heads show light tooling and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This postwar Winchester Model 63 was manufactured in 1948 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Winchester during the first full years of resumed civilian production following World War II, the Model 63 had firmly established itself as one of Winchester's most reliable semi-automatic rimfire rifles. The 23 inch tube-fed configuration remained the standard sporting profile.

Chambered in .22 Long Rifle with a 23 inch barrel, this rifle is fitted with a Weaver Marksman M 1"-4X scope, offering practical magnification for small game and range use. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 8 out of 10, indicating solid internal condition with good rifling. The action functions correctly.

This rifle retains approximately 75% of its original metal finish, showing visible but honest wear consistent with age and field use. The furniture rates in Good condition with typical handling marks. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition and stands as a solid 1948 Winchester Model 63 equipped with a period-style Weaver optic.
