The Republic Metallic Cartridge Company of Windham, Maine manufactured historically correct black powder cartridges in the 2000s, ultimately closing their doors in 2009. They used components such as Schuetzen Black Powder, Swiss Black Powder, Starline Brass, and SPG bullet lube, as well as hand cast bullet designs, and even went so far as to manufacture period correct boxes. This Vintage 2000s Republic Metallic Cartridge Company Bullet Board is in Very Good condition, with a vertical hairline crack in the lower right back of the wooden frame, some light scattered dark glue residue around the back edges of that wooden frame, and with some light scattered age wear evident. Most interestingly, it measures 26” x 21”, boasts an elegant wooden frame housing the paper poster, and sports 14 cartridges mounted at front, with 4 different pistol cartridges at top, 3 different shotgun shells at middle, and 7 different rifle cartridges at bottom. The rounds are hollow, only the casing and bullet are present, no primer or powder. The cartridges are tied in place with copper wire, and the ends are glued flat to the back of the board. The upper front of the board reads “Standard & Match Grade / CENTRAL FIRE, BLACK POWDER, / CARTRIDGES”, the middle reads “Republic Metallic / Cartridge Company / Windham, ME. U.S.A” centered by the head-on image of a locomotive, and the bottom lists some of the components used and the defunct company’s contact information. The presence of a website URL dates the piece to ca. 1999-2009. This is a well made, well maintained, and ready to hang bullet board that will display well in any gun room.
