The fact that the United States, of course combined with the efforts of the other members of the “Big Four” (Britain, Russia, and China), fought and defeated Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan at the height of their nefarious powers, is an incredible testament to the might of the American war machine, from the front lined armed forces to the manufacturing and rationing effort on the home front. The US government printed a variety of “propaganda” posters to encourage the best effort of folks on the home front to support the war effort, ranging from buying war bonds, to saving rubber, to putting forth maximum effort at their jobs. This US WW2 Home Front "Give 'em the stuff to fight with..." Framed Original Propaganda Poster is in Very Good Condition, with one vertical fold line running down the middle and one horizontal fold line running across the middle from having been folded in quarters long ago, some scattered spot soiling to the frame, and with some scattered age wear evident. Most interestingly, it remains finely matted in a 24” x 19 1/2” metal frame, sports a metal hanging wire across the upper back, and boasts a crisp illustration at front, with “Give ‘em the stuff / to fight with…” printed in bright yellow lettering across the upper front (the edge trim of the custom matting was crafted of the exact matching shade of yellow), above a muddy, battle hardened GI pulling his comrade to safety. The GI wears a M-1917A1 “Kelly” helmet, M-1928 haversack, and a WW1 vintage cartridge belt, and carries an M-1 Garand with a 16” long bayonet, all connoting this poster dates to early in the war, likely ca. 1942. It carries the last name of the illustrator, “SARRA”, printed in grayish white at the lower left front corner, and is a fine example of a very rare, original US WW2 Home Front "Give 'em the stuff to fight with..." Framed Original Propaganda Poster.
