Sights/Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is a u-notch adjustable for elevation dovetailed into the barrel. A Weaver K 2.5 scope is mounted on two bases screwed into the receiver. The glass is clear and the scope rates in Good condition.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The refinished furniture is two piece wood with a straight comb, semi-pistol grip, smooth forend, and a smooth metal buttplate. The buttplate has moderate wear and finish loss. The furniture shows only a few pressure dings. The LOP measures 13.25" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There is a small crack running from the upper tang. The furniture rates in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There is a squib ring near the muzzle and faint erosion towards the muzzle end of the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 4/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 80% of its original metal finish. The finish shows edge wear, surface scratches, freckling, and faint patina. The screw heads are lightly tooled and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Fair to Good condition due to the bore condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This third year production Winchester Model 63 was manufactured in 1935 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Winchester during the early years of the Model 63 line, this example reflects the formative prewar period when Winchester was refining its semi-automatic rimfire platform. The 20 inch configuration represents the earlier barrel length offered during the initial production years.

Chambered in .22 Long Rifle with a 20 inch barrel, this tube-fed semi-automatic rifle is fitted with a Weaver K 2.5 scope, adding period-correct optic appeal. There is a squib ring near the muzzle, and in this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 4 out of 10. The action functions correctly.

This rifle retains approximately 80% of its original metal finish, showing honest wear consistent with age. The refinished furniture rates in Very Good condition with solid structure and clean presentation.
