Sights/Optics: The front sight is a blade dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is a v-notch dovetailed into the barrel.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is two piece wood with a straight-wrist grip, smooth forend, straight comb, and checkered hard rubber "Stevens Favorite" buttplate. The buttplate has heavy handling wear. The furniture shows pressure dings, nicks, scuffs, and scratches. The LOP measures 12.5" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There is a crack running from the upper and lower tang. The furniture rates in Fair condition.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is grey and the rifling is worn. There is mild pitting and erosion throughout the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 4/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about none of its original metal finish as most has worn away or turned to patina and oxidation. The finish shows light pitting, edge wear, and surface oxidation. The screw heads show moderate tooling and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Fair condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Stevens A&T Co. 1894 "Favorite" was manufactured between 1894 and 1916 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by J. Stevens Arms & Tool Company, the Favorite was one of the most successful and recognizable youth and small game rifles of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Its lightweight construction and simple pivoting block action made it a popular introductory rifle for generations of shooters.

Chambered in .32 Long Rimfire, this single shot rifle utilizes the classic Favorite pivot block action. The .32 Long Rimfire cartridge is now obsolete, adding historical interest to surviving examples. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 4 out of 10, showing significant wear consistent with age and use. The action functions correctly.

The furniture rates in Fair condition with visible wear and age-related handling marks. This rifle retains essentially none of its original metal finish, as most has worn away or turned to patina and oxidation over time. Overall, this rifle rates in Fair condition and stands as an honest survivor from the early years of Stevens production.
