Sights/Optics: The front sight is a hooded post and the rear is a diopter rotating drum.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The three piece polymer furniture has a pistol grip, ventilated forend, and a fixed stock with a sling attachment point. There are a few light scratches and dings present. The LOP measures 13.75" from the face of the trigger to the rear of the butt. There are no chips or cracks. Overall the furniture is in Fine-plus condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp with stubborn fouling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The finish shows minimal wear other than light operational marks. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Good condition, see Mechanics.

Mechanics: The bolt gap measures .018", the bolt is not properly delayed by the rollers. The action otherwise functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This rifle presents in solid overall condition, retaining approximately 99% of its original finish. The exterior surfaces are clean and even with minimal handling evidence, giving the firearm a crisp, well preserved appearance. The faux suppressor barrel shroud preserves the iconic MP5 style profile while remaining compliant, lending the rifle strong visual appeal and correct period aesthetics for early MP5 pattern clones.

Mechanically, several important points must be clearly noted. The bore rates 9.5 out of 10 with bright steel and strong rifling. The action cycles and functions in a basic sense. However, the bolt gap measures .018 inches and the bolt is not properly delayed by the rollers. This indicates an issue with the roller delayed blowback system, which is critical to correct and safe operation on MP5 pattern firearms. Improper roller delay can lead to abnormal bolt velocity, increased wear, and potential safety concerns.

Historically, Special Weapons SW5 rifles were among the early civilian MP5 pattern offerings available around the turn of the millennium. These rifles played an important role in popularizing roller delayed PCC platforms in the commercial market and are now representative of an early chapter in MP5 clone production.
