Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated ramped blade pinned to a rise in the serrated rib. A green paint has been applied to the front sight. The rear sight is a square notch fitting in a base that is adjustable for windage and elevation mounted to the topstrap. The topstrap, under the rear sight, is drilled and tapped for an optic mount (none included).
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grip is a Hogue Monogrip. There are no rips or tears. The texture is defined with light handling wear. There are no rips or tears. The Hogue grip rates in about Fine condition. Also included are Round Butt (this revolver is a round butt) two-piece smooth wood target stocks with a speedloader cut and finger grooves. There is no handling wear. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in about Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. There is stubborn carbon and copper fouling. In this writer's opinion the bore rates 8/10.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are a few spots of finish loss under the grips. There are some scattered light marks. There are some scattered light handling marks. There are a couple little nicks and dings, the most noticeable are on the cylinder and trigger guard. There is a turn line through the finish on the cylinder. There is mild carbon fouling on the cylinder. The screw heads are sharp with the exception of the grip screw which displays light wear. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver rates in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The double-action trigger is smooth and the single-action trigger is crisp. The cylinder produces light play in lockup on each chamber. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a Smith & Wesson case with a matching label, extra grips as mentioned above, cable lock & keys, moisture absorbent paper, and factory test spent casing packet.
Our Assessment: The S&W Model 25 was originally was The 1955 Model .45 Target Heavy Barrel, alternately chambered for .45 ACP and .45 Colt. This example is the Mountain Gun, chambered for .45 Colt with a 4? lightweight barrel and round-butt. As the name suggests, this would be a great carry gun when hiking where you may encounter predators. The .45 Colt is a stout round, especially with modern cartridges, and will be good protection against just about anything you’ll encounter in North America. The gun is in Excellent condition with only light cosmetic and operational wear but has a great bore and strong mechanics. If you’re a Smith collector or just want a powerful revolver for your outdoor adventures, this is a great gun to pick up.
