Sights/Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed and screwed into the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable elevation u-notch dovetailed into the barrel.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The refinished furniture is two piece wood with a straight comb, semi-pistol grip,10-rib forend, and a smooth metal buttplate. The buttplate has dings, edge wear, and patina. The furniture shows mainly old blemishes that have been sanded and finished over. The LOP measures 13" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are two small cracks on the left and top of the wrist running from the receiver. The furniture rates in Very Good condition.

Finish Originality: Refinished, the barrel has cold blue applied and the markings are shallow from scrubbing

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright with stubborn fouling. There is light erosion throughout the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 7.5/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 80% of it's nonoriginal finish. The finish shows edge wear, surface scratches, scrub marks on the barrel, and other blemishes. The screw heads show light tooling and retain turnable slots. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This second year production Remington Model 25 was manufactured in 1924 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Remington, the Model 25 was designed by John D. Pedersen and introduced in 1923 as a compact slide-action sporting rifle. Early production examples are particularly desirable as they represent the beginning of one of Remington's most successful pump-action centerfire rifle lines.

Chambered in .25-20 WCF with a 24 inch barrel, this rifle reflects a classic small game and varmint hunting configuration from the interwar period. The .25-20 Winchester cartridge was prized for its mild recoil and practical field performance. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 7.5 out of 10, indicating solid internal condition with moderate wear. The action functions correctly.

This rifle retains approximately 80% of its nonoriginal metal finish. The furniture has been sanded and refinished and currently rates in Very Good condition with a clean appearance and solid structure. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition and stands as an attractive early 1924 Remington Model 25 chambered in the desirable .25-20 WCF cartridge.
