Sights / Optics: The rifle features a standard AK-style front sight, which is an adjustable post protected by wings. The rear sight is a tangent notch sight graduated for elevation. Additionally, the rifle is equipped with a side-mounted Romanian LPS 4x6 TIP2 scope (serial #035144-75), featuring an illuminated reticle, rangefinding capability, and windage/elevation adjustments marked in Romanian (“STINGA / DREAPTA”). The scope retains its original rubber eyecup and shows the correct factory labeling on the mount.

Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked “PSL-54C / Cal. 7.62x54Rmm”. The trunnion is marked with the serial number “K-2083-79” followed by “RO” and the Cugir triangle factory logo. The right side of the receiver is marked “MADE BY C.N. ROMARM S.A. / CUGIR / IN ROMANIA / IMPORTED BY CAI GEORGIA, VT”. The scope base is marked “LPS 4x6 TIP2 / Sr. 035144-75”.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The rifle is fitted with laminated wood furniture, including a ventilated upper and lower handguard and a thumbhole buttstock with integral cheek rest. The wood shows light handling wear and retains a clean factory lacquer finish with nice color and grain. The rubber buttpad is intact. There are no chips or cracks.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 90–95% of its original finish. Most wear is limited to light handling marks and minor thinning around the ejection port and sharp edges. The magazine and receiver show typical contact wear from use. The scope body has some wear to the finish but remains serviceable. The screw heads are sharp, and all markings are clear.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The safety engages cleanly, the trigger breaks cleanly, and the bolt cycles smoothly. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: The Romanian PSL-54C is a classic Cold War-era DMR based on the AKM/RPK pattern and chambered in the powerful 7.62x54R cartridge. While often visually compared to the Soviet Dragunov, the PSL is an entirely different mechanical animal—beefier, more AK-like, and built to endure battlefield abuse. These rifles were manufactured at Cugir and served as the Romanian Army’s designated marksman rifle for decades.

This example includes the correct military-issued LPS 4x6 TIP2 optic, providing proper rangefinding capability and battlefield authenticity. The laminated stock and classic “X”-ribbed magazine reinforce the PSL’s unmistakable Eastern Bloc aesthetic. With about 90–95% of its original finish remaining, this rifle is in solid shape and ready for range time.
