Sights/Optics: The front sight is a beaded base dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable elevation u-notch screwed into the barrel.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The refinished furniture is one piece wood with a semi pistol grip, straight comb, smooth forend, and a checkered synthetic buttplate. The buttplate has moderate handling wear with a chip taken out of the top. The initials "CSH" are located on the buttplate. The furniture has pressure dings, scuffs, and scratches. There several cracks in the buttstock. The LOP measures 13.75" from the face of the trigger to the butt. The furniture rates in Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp with light fouling. There is light patina towards the muzzle end of the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 8.5/10.

Overall Condition: This firearm retains about none of its original metal finish as most has turned to patina or oxidation. The finish shows edge wear, patina, scratches, dings, and oxidation. The screw heads are lightly tooled and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this firearm rates in Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Remington Model 550-1 was manufactured in 1950 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Remington, the Model 550-1 was one of Remington's most versatile semi-automatic rimfire rifles. The Model 550-1 earned a reputation for dependable performance and remained in production for many years.
