Sights/Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed and screwed into the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable elevation u-notch dovetailed into the barrel.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The refinished furniture is two piece wood with a straight comb, semi-pistol grip,10-rib forend, and a smooth metal buttplate. The buttplate has light edge wear and finish discoloration. The furniture shows moderate wear with pressure dings, scuffs, and scratches. The current finish shows crazing. The LOP measures 13" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are two faint cracks on the left side of the wrist running from the receiver. The furniture rates in Very Good condition.

Type of Finish: Blued

Finish Originality: Original EXCEPT for a small section near where the barrel meets the receiver. that spot has been scrubbed and partially finished over.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright with stubborn streaking. There is faint erosion scattered in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 8/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 70% of it's mostly original finish. The finish shows edge wear, light patina, surface scratches, and a spot of pitting that has been scrubbed over. The screw heads show little to no tooling and retain turnable slots. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Remington Model 25 was manufactured in 1928 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Remington, the Model 25 was designed by John D. Pedersen and served as Remington's compact slide-action sporting rifle. Chambered in popular Winchester centerfire cartridges, the Model 25 became a favored hunting rifle during the interwar years and later served as the basis for the larger Model 14 and Model 141 family.

Chambered in .25-20 WCF with a 24 inch barrel, this rifle reflects a classic small game and varmint hunting configuration. The .25-20 Winchester cartridge earned a reputation for mild recoil, excellent accuracy, and versatility on smaller game. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 8 out of 10, indicating solid internal condition with good rifling. The action functions correctly.

This rifle retains approximately 70% of its mostly original finish. The furniture rates in Very Good condition with light handling wear consistent with age. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition and stands as a solid example of a 1928 Remington Model 25 chambered in the desirable .25-20 WCF cartridge.
