Sights/Optics: The front sight is a blade dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable elevation v/u-notch screwed into the barrel.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The sanded and refinished furniture is two piece wood with a straight comb, straight-wrist grip, 10-rib forend, and a smooth metal buttplate. The buttplate has little remaining finish along with patina and small dings. The furniture shows mainly old blemishes that have been sanded and finished over. The LOP measures 13.25" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. A repair was made to the right of the stock just below the comb. There are cracks located at the left of the wrist, lower tang, bottom of the butt, and bottom of the forend The furniture rates in Fair to Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is grey and the rifling is worn. There is mild pitting throughout the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 5/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 25% of it's original finish. The finish shows edge wear, light patina, surface scratches, and dings. The screw heads range from lightly to moderately tooled and retain turnable slots. Overall, this rifle rates in Fair condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Remington Model 12 was manufactured between 1912 and 1921 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Remington, the Model 12 was one of the company's most successful slide-action rimfire rifles and competed directly with Winchester's popular pump-action designs. Its smooth operation, solid construction, and ability to chamber multiple rimfire cartridges made it a favorite among hunters and recreational shooters.

Chambered in .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle with a 22 inch barrel, this rifle reflects the versatile sporting configuration that helped establish the Model 12's reputation. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 5 out of 10, showing moderate to heavy wear consistent with age and use. The action functions correctly.

This rifle retains approximately 25% of its original finish, with the balance worn to patina and age-related wear. The furniture rates in Fair to Good condition with visible handling marks and wear consistent with long service. Overall, this rifle rates in Fair condition and stands as an honest example of an early Remington Model 12 rimfire pump rifle.
