Sights/Optics: The front sight is a metal bead fixed to the end of the rib.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The two piece wood furniture has a straight comb, checkered semi-pistol grip, checkered forend, and a textured rubber Remington recoil pad. There is light wear with pressure dings, scuffs, and scratches throughout. The LOP measures 14" from the face of the trigger to the rear of the butt. There are no chips or cracks. Overall the furniture is in Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 99% of its metal finish. There is only light wear with occasional surface scratches. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this shotgun rates in Very Good condition (see mechanics section).

Mechanics: The bolt hold-open function does not work. The action otherwise functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This shotgun presents in Very Good overall condition, retaining approximately 99% of its original finish. The exterior surfaces are clean and well preserved with light handling evidence, and the barrel and receiver show a uniform, well cared for appearance. The bore rates a perfect 10 out of 10, bright and clean throughout, indicating very light use. The Special Purpose configuration offers a versatile setup well suited to general field use, sporting applications, and range shooting.

The action functions correctly in terms of cycling and firing. However, the bolt hold-open feature does not function. This means the bolt does not lock open as intended after the last round. This issue does not prevent the shotgun from cycling or firing, but it should be noted as a mechanical deficiency and may require attention from a qualified gunsmith to restore full factory function.

The Remington 11-87 platform is known for its gas operated reliability and soft recoil characteristics, and aside from the bolt holdback issue, this example remains mechanically sound. The overall configuration and condition make it an attractive modern 11-87, with the noted bolt holdback concern clearly disclosed.
