Sights / Optics: There is a white bead in a base at the front of the rib. A hole is drilled for a mid-bead, but none is present. The top of the rib is matted for glare reduction.

Weight: 8 lb., 2.5 oz.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered walnut with a beavertail forearm, pistol grip, straight comb, and brown ventilated rubber Browning recoil pad. The forend is cracked at the left-front, mostly in the barrel channel but with ends showing on the front and to the left of the barrel about 2" from the front. There is a tiny crack at the rear of the top tang. There are some scattered minor nicks, scuffs and compressions. The checkering is well defined. The LOP measures 14 3/8" from the front of the trigger to the back of the recoil pad. The pad shows light wear and remains fairly supple. The stocks rate in about Very Good overall condition.

Finish Originality: Original, numbered parts match.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 96% of its metal finish. There is a small cluster of light marks on the right of the barrel about 2" from the muzzle. There are some light marks on the top of the receiver behind the rib. There are two small marks on the rear edge of the forend iron on the bottom. The action shows light operational wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun is in Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all previously owned items, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: Since its introduction in 1968, the Browning BT-99 has had a loyal following from veteran shooters as well as those just getting into the sport of trap. These shotguns are very simple, yet elegantly designed and the quality is hard to match. This trap gun has a great feel and is from 1972, fairly early in production. The early models are characterized by their beavertail forend and ejector. This is a good looking, well-kept shotgun with about 96% of its original finish remaining, and should make a terrific trap gun for the lucky winner. Please see our photos and good luck!
