Sights/Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is a u-notch adjustable for elevation dovetailed into the barrel.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The refinished furniture is two piece wood with a straight comb, semi-pistol grip, smooth forend, and a checkered metal buttplate. The buttplate has light wear and a little oxidation. The furniture shows almost no notable wear other than a crack on both sides of the wrist running from the receiver. The LOP measures 13.25" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The furniture rates in Very Good condition.

Type of Finish: Blued

Finish Originality: Nonoriginal, there is cold blue present on the receiver

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp with faint wear. There is no erosion the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 85% of its original metal finish. The finish shows cold blue mostly on the left side of the receiver, edge wear, and surface scratches. The screw heads range from lightly to moderately tooled and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This postwar Winchester Model 63 was manufactured in 1952 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Winchester during the mature postwar sporting rifle era, the Model 63 had firmly established itself as one of the most dependable and refined semi-automatic rimfire rifles in American production. The 23 inch configuration remained the standard sporting profile throughout its run.

Chambered in .22 Long Rifle with a 23 inch barrel, this tube-fed semi-automatic rifle reflects the classic small game and recreational shooting format that made the Model 63 so popular. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9.5 out of 10, indicating excellent internal condition. The action functions correctly.

This rifle retains approximately 85% of its original metal finish, showing moderate, honest wear consistent with age and use. The refinished furniture rates in Very Good condition with solid structure and clean presentation. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition and stands as a well-maintained 1952 Winchester Model 63 with strong bore condition and attractive wood.
