Sights/Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is a u-notch adjustable for elevation dovetailed into the barrel.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The refinished furniture is two piece wood with a straight comb, semi-pistol grip, smooth forend, and a checkered metal buttplate. The buttplate has light wear and does not fit flush to the wood. The furniture shows only old sanding marks and blemishes under the current finish. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13.25" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The furniture rates in Very Good Plus condition.

Type of Finish: Blued

Finish Originality: Nonoriginal, spots have been gone over with cold blue

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There is very light oxidation at the muzzle end of the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 8.5/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 90% of its nonoriginal metal finish. The finish shows some small pits and scratches that have been gone over with cold blue. The screw heads are lightly tooled and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This postwar Winchester Model 63 was manufactured in 1954 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Winchester during the later years of Model 63 production, the rifle reflects the mature design that had made it one of Winchester's most respected semi-automatic rimfire offerings. By the mid-1950s, the Model 63 had become a staple small game and recreational rifle across the country.

Chambered in .22 Long Rifle with a 23 inch barrel, this tube-fed semi-automatic rifle maintains the classic sporting configuration. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 8.5 out of 10, indicating solid internal condition with good rifling. The action functions correctly.

This rifle retains approximately 90% of its nonoriginal bluing, presenting a clean and cohesive appearance. The refinished furniture rates in Very Good Plus condition with strong structure and attractive presentation.
