Sights/Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable elevation v-notch dovetailed into the barrel. The top of the receiver is tapped for an optic, though none is present.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is two piece wood with a smooth semi pistol grip, straight comb, smooth forend, and checkered synthetic buttplate. The forend cap is missing. The buttplate has light handling wear. The furniture has a couple light scuffs and occasional pressure dings. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13.25" from the face of the trigger to the butt. The furniture rates in Very Good Plus condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp with faint fouling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.

Overall Condition: This firearm retains about 97% of its original metal finish. The finish shows some light scratches and a couple very small spots of surface oxidation. The screw heads show little to no tooling and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this firearm rates in Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Marlin Model 39D was manufactured in 1971 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Marlin Firearms, the Model 39D was a streamlined variation of the legendary Model 39 series, offering the same proven lever-action design in a practical sporting configuration. Built on the platform that traces its heritage back to the late 19th century, the Model 39 family remains one of the longest-running and most respected lever-action rimfire designs ever produced.
