Sights/Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is a u-notch dovetailed into the barrel.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is two piece wood with a straight comb, straight wrist grip, smooth forend, and a smooth metal buttplate. The buttplate has moderate handling wear with visible patina and oxidation. The furniture shows pressure dings, scuffs, and scratches. The LOP measures 13.25" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There is a crack running from the upper and lower tang. The furniture rates in Fair to Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is dark and the rifling is worn. There is heavy pitting and erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 4/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about none of it's original finish as most has turned to patina and oxidation. The finish shows edge wear, scratches, patina, and spots of oxidation. The screw heads are lightly tooled and retain turnable slots. Three of the receiver screws are missing. The ejector assembly is missing. Overall, this rifle rates in Poor condition.

Mechanics: The action DOES NOT function correctly as the ejector assembly was removed. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Marlin Model 29 was manufactured between 1913 and 1916 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Marlin Firearms, the Model 29 was one of Marlin's early slide-action rimfire rifles, designed as a reliable and affordable sporting arm for small game hunting and recreational shooting. Chambered to fire .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle cartridges, it reflected the versatility expected of quality rimfire rifles during the early 20th century.

Chambered for .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle with a 22.5 inch barrel, this rifle was intended as a practical field and gallery gun. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 4 out of 10, showing significant wear consistent with age and prolonged use. Mechanically, the action does not function correctly because the ejector has been removed, preventing normal operation.

The furniture rates in Fair to Good condition with noticeable handling wear and age-related marks. This rifle retains essentially none of its original metal finish, with most surfaces having turned to patina and oxidation over the course of its service life. Overall, this rifle rates in Poor condition due to the missing ejector and overall wear, though it remains an interesting example of an early Marlin slide-action rimfire rifle.
