Sights/Optics: The front sight is a blade dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable elevation u-notch screwed into the barrel. 

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The refinished stocks are wood with a straight comb, semi-pistol grip, 12 rib forend, and a checkered hard rubber Winchester buttplate. The buttplate shows light wear mainly located on the edges. The furniture shows light wear with infrequent pressure dings and scratches. Most notable are three nicks in the forend. The LOP measures 12.75" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are thin cracks running from both the upper and lower tang. This furniture rates in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp with stubborn fouling. There is faint erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 8.5/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 85% of its metal finish. The receiver shows freckling along with wear in the finish located mainly at the upper rear. The magazine tube shows operational wear, scattered scratches, and infrequent spots of oxidation. The bolt shows operational wear and surface oxidation. The barrel finish is starting to turn to patina and there is scattered freckling. The screw heads show faint tooling and retain strong slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This is a well preserved interwar example of Winchester's classic slide action rimfire. Approximately 85% of the original blue finish remains, with the metal surfaces showing fairly strong coverage and expected thinning. The rifle retains matching numbered parts, an important indicator of originality on Model 06 rifles. The stock and forend present clean lines and finish, giving the rifle an attractive, honest appearance typical of well kept examples from this period.

Mechanically, the rifle remains very solid. The bore rates 8.5 out of 10 with good brightness and clearly defined rifling, indicating moderate use but strong remaining accuracy potential. The action functions correctly and exhibits the smooth, rhythmic pump stroke that made the Model 06 a favorite among farmers, small game hunters, and recreational shooters throughout the early twentieth century. The 20" barrel keeps the rifle compact and lively in the hands while maintaining an effective sight radius.

As a late 1920s to early 1930s Model 06 with strong remaining finish, matching numbers, a good bore, and correct mechanical function, this rifle stands as a desirable representative of Winchester's golden era of rimfire slide action production.
