Sights/Optics: The front sight is a beaded post dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is a Marbles fold-up u-notch. A folding aperture sight is screwed to the upper tang.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The refinished furniture is two piece wood with a straight comb, semi-pistol grip, smooth forend, and a smooth metal buttplate. The buttplate shows moderate wear and patina. The furniture shows pressure dings, scuffs, and scratches. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13.25" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The furniture rates in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There is faint erosion towards the muzzle end of the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 7/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 70% of its original metal finish. The finish shows edge wear, light spots of pitting, freckling, and surface scratches. The screw heads show little to no tooling and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This first year, three-digit serial Winchester Model 63 was manufactured in 1933 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Winchester during the inaugural year of Model 63 production, early three-digit examples represent some of the earliest commercial offerings of this now-classic semi-automatic rimfire design. The Model 63 was introduced as the successor to the Model 1903 and quickly established itself as a reliable sporting rifle.

Chambered in .22 Long Rifle with a 20 inch barrel, this tube-fed semi-automatic rifle reflects the original early production configuration. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 7 out of 10. The action functions correctly.

This rifle retains approximately 70 percent of its original metal finish, presenting honest wear appropriate for a first-year example. The refinished furniture rates in Very Good condition with solid structure and attractive appearance. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition and stands as a desirable early 1933 three-digit Winchester Model 63 from the first year of production.
