Sights/Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight has been removed and a Weaver J 2.5 scope has been screwed into the barrel and receiver. The glass is clear and the scope rates in Very Good condition.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is two piece wood with a straight comb, semi-pistol grip, smooth forend, and a smooth metal buttplate. The buttplate has light scratches and finish wear. The furniture shows scattered light pressure dings and surface scratches. The LOP measures 13.25" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There is a very small chip taken from the heel where it meets the buttplate. The furniture rates in Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp with light fouling. There is faint erosion towards the muzzle end of the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 8/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 96% of its original metal finish. The finish shows light edge wear and a few minor scratches. The screw heads are unmarred and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This wartime Winchester Model 63 was manufactured in 1942 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Winchester during the early years of World War II, Model 63 production was limited as civilian sporting arms manufacturing began to shift toward wartime priorities. As such, 1942 examples represent a comparatively scarce wartime production period.

Chambered in .22 Long Rifle with a 23 inch barrel, this tube-fed semi-automatic rifle reflects the classic sporting configuration that made the Model 63 a favorite among small game hunters. A Weaver J 2.5 scope is mounted, adding period-correct optic appeal to the rifle. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 8 out of 10, indicating solid internal condition with good rifling. The action functions correctly.

This rifle retains approximately 96% of its original metal finish, presenting a strong and well-preserved example for a wartime production gun. The furniture rates in Fine condition with clean appearance and very light handling wear.
