Sights/Optics: The front sight is a blade atop a ramp fixed to the barrel. There is no rear sight. The receiver is grooved for an optic, a Browning 4X scope is mounted.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: This has a saltwood stock. The buttstock has a straight comb, semi-pistol grip, and synthetic Browning buttplate. The buttplate shows light wear. The forend and semi-pistol grip are checkered. The checkering is lightly worn with a few dings and wear on the peaks. The rest of the furniture shows moderate wear with scattered pressure dings, scuffs, and scratches. Most notable is a large scratch on the right side of the stock, below where the barrel meets the action. The LOP measures 13.5" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are no chips or cracks. This furniture rates in Very Good condition as saltwood.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There is light oxidation at the muzzle end of the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 8.5/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 90% of its metal finish. The finish shows a few scattered scuffs and scratches. Most notable is with the stock removed there are multiple spots of oxidation from the saltwood stock. The screw heads are lightly tooled and retain strong slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This is an early production T2 Deluxe that retains approximately 90 percent of its original blue finish. The metal surfaces mostly retain deep and even finish, and the rifle presents the refined appearance expected of FN produced Browning rimfires from this period. The 24 inch barrel gives the rifle a graceful sporting profile and a long sight radius, and the straight pull T-Bolt action functions correctly with the fast, smooth cycling that defines the design. The bore rates 8.5 out of 10, showing good brightness and defined rifling.

This rifle is fitted with a saltwood stock, a known Browning issue from the mid 1960s. With the stock removed, there are multiple visible areas of oxidation on the metal surfaces where the saltwood has contacted the steel over time. These spots are hidden when the stock is installed and do not affect basic function, but they are present and should be clearly noted.

Despite the saltwood related oxidation, the rifle remains mechanically sound. The action functions correctly, and overall exterior appearance remains strong when assembled. The Deluxe grade stock retains its attractive figure and finish, which is typical of why these saltwood stocks were originally selected.
