Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade set between two protective wings. The rear sight is a fully adjustable aperture sight.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The hardwood stock has a semi-pistol grip, metal nose cap, two sling loops, stacking loop, and a metal butt plate with hinged metal door for storage. The LOP measures 13". The wood shows scratches, lines, and compressions scattered throughout. There is a small chip just in front of the bottom metal. The forward handguard section is cracked at the top. The butt plate has been refinished, has sharp checkering and a strong door spring. Overall the wood is in Good condition.

Finish Originality: Original.
Bore Condition: The bore is Very bright and the rifling is very well defined. There is no visible erosion/pitting in the grooves of the bore. Our gauges show a muzzle reading of 1+ and a throat erosion of about 1+. In this writer's opinion the bore rates 9.75/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its finish. The friction surfaces of the bolt and receiver show some minor rub wear. The finish shows some discoloration from age. The muzzle shows finish loss. The gas cylinder shows some minor marks. The action is smooth. The markings are clear and the screw heads are sharp. Overall this rifle is in about Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This M1 Garand was manufactured by Harrington & Richardson in 1955 and retains most of its HRA manufactured parts including the trigger group and a correct HRA barrel dated June 1955. Harrington & Richardson was one of the companies contracted by the U.S. government during the early Cold War to continue Garand production after World War II, producing rifles from 1953 to 1956. These late-production rifles are well known for their excellent machining, consistent quality, and strong shooting characteristics. Adopted by the U.S. military in 1936, the M1 Garand became America's primary infantry rifle through World War II and the Korean War, earning a legendary reputation for reliability and firepower. This 1955 H&R example represents one of the final chapters of U.S. Garand production, combining Cold War history with the enduring legacy of America's most famous service rifle.
