Stock: The front of the grip has a circle "P" acceptance stamp and the left flank has a small DOD cartouche. The right flank "6187".

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade set between two protective wings. The rear sight is a fully adjustable aperture sight set between two protective wings. The windage knob is marked "LEFT arrow" twice and "DRC". The elevation knob is marked from 2-12 in increments of 2 and "NHC".
Stock Configuration & Condition: The wood stock has a traditional Semi-pistol grip, metal nose caps, two sling loops, stacking ring, and a checkered metal butt plate with storage compartment. The LOP measures 13". The wood has been lightly sanded and refinished. The wood shows scattered compressions, lines, scuffs and other minor marks. The right side of the wrist shows some nicks in the wood that have been sanded down. The left flank shows a repair from a grenade sight mount that was removed. There is a notable chip missing from the rear upper handguard at the receiver. There are no cracks. The butt plate has been refinished and shows some scuffs and slightly worn checkering. The door spring is strong. Overall the stock is in Very Good+ condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is very bright with very well defined rifling. There is no pitting/erosion visible. Our gauges show a muzzle of 1 and the throat of 1. In this writer's opinion the bore rates 9.5/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The friction surfaces of the bolt and receiver show very minor rub wear. The majority of the finish loss on this rifle is thinning on the edges of the trigger guard and muzzle. The bottom metal shows a few minor lines. The markings are clear and the screw heads are sharp. Overall the rifle is in about Very Good+-Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: This Springfield Armory M1 Garand was manufactured between 1955 and 1957 and is fitted with a correct Springfield Armory barrel dated March 1955. Produced during the final years of U.S. Garand manufacture, rifles from this period represent the culmination of two decades of refinement to America's legendary battle rifle. The M1 Garand earned its place in history through distinguished service in World War II and Korea, where its rugged gas-operated action and eight-round en bloc clip gave American infantrymen a decisive advantage in firepower and reliability.
This example is especially appealing in that it retains nearly all of its original Springfield Armory components, a feature that is increasingly uncommon among service rifles that often passed through multiple rebuild programs.
