Cowpunchers on cattle drives, during roundups, and riding fence at the turn of the 20th century wore rugged leather cuffs to protect their wrists from rope burns, thorns, and barbed wire. This pair of Antique 1920s Old West Cowboy Los Angeles Saddlery Made Floral Tooled Brown Leather Wrist Cuffs are in Very Good Condition, with some light scattered scratching, crazing, and spot darkening around the exteriors, some scattered verdigris to the brass snaps along the backs, and with some light overall stiffening, flattening, and age wear evident. Most interestingly, they remain fairly well formed in the round, boast incredible hand carved floral tooling throughout, set off by slightly differing patterns of understated yet elegant border tooling, and sport three brass “glove” snap closures along the backs, all of which are stamped with their maker, “LOS ANGELES / SADDLERY / & / FINDING CO.”. They date to the late 1910s, early 1920s, measure about 5 1/2" x 4", and are a fine example of very rare, original Antique 1920s Old West Cowboy Los Angeles Saddlery Made Floral Tooled Brown Leather Wrist Cuffs.
