This is a lot of 2 sealed full boxes, 100 rounds of Vintage Winchester .22 Short “Lesmok Rifle Cartridges” Ammo, all of which is going to be “H” headstamped in honor of Benjamin Tyler Henry. The sealed two piece boxes have green labels marked “.22 SHORT”, “RIM FIRE”, “STETSON’S / PATENT / Oct. 31st, 1871”, and “LESMOK RIFLE CARTRIDGES”. In the early 1900s, Winchester notoriously marked many of their boxes of ammunition as “Rifle Cartridges” to avoid paying taxes to some Southern states on handgun cartridges. The orange side flap labels are marked with a red “W” and “K2254R”. There is moderate fading to the green label on each box, but overall, the boxes are in Very Good condition considering their age. The style of boxes dates the lot to the ca. 1920s.
