This is 1 full box, 50 rounds of Vintage 1900s Winchester .22 Short “Smokeless Rifle Cartridges” Ammo, all of which is “H” headstamped in honor of Benjamin Tyler Henry. The two piece box has a green label marked “.22 CAL”, “RIFLE CARTRIDGES”, and “SMOKELESS”, with the last diagonally across the top in red. In the early 1900s, Winchester notoriously marked many of their boxes of ammunition as “Rifle Cartridges” to avoid paying taxes to some Southern states on handgun cartridges. It’s complete with the original Winchester “Greaseless Bullets” printout and “Cleaning Preparations” foldout. The Greaseless printout has an ‘07 date, and the box has an “11-8” identifier, dating the lot to ca. 1907-1908. There is some scattered surface tearing to the front, back, and side flap labels, and there is some scattered edge tearing throughout. The ammo and box are in Good condition for their age.
