Sights/Optics: The front sight is a blade dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable elevation u-notch dovetailed into the barrel.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The two piece wood stock has a schnabel forend, straight wrist grip, and a smooth brass buttplate. The buttstock has a brass inlay commemorating Joshua Stevens. There is very light wear with only a small scuff and two dings on the right side of the stock. The LOP measures 12.75" from the face of the trigger to the rear of the butt. There are no chips or cracks. Overall the furniture is in Fine-Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The finish shows minimal blemishes with light operational wear. Most notable is oxidation on the hammer and just behind it on the receiver. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine+ condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This is an outstanding, near new example of the commemorative Stevens Favorite , retaining approximately 99% of its original finish. The metal surfaces are clean and even, and the rifle presents with the crisp lines and refined appearance expected of this limited production run. The stock and forend remain sharp and well finished, giving the rifle a polished, presentation quality look that clearly reflects careful handling and storage since manufacture.

Mechanically, the rifle is excellent. The bore rates a perfect 10 out of 10 with bright steel and sharp rifling, indicating essentially no use. The action functions correctly, opening and closing smoothly with the simple, positive operation that defined the Favorite pattern. The 22" barrel provides a balanced sporting profile and a generous sight radius, well suited to deliberate, accurate rimfire shooting.

Historically, the 1971 Limited Edition Model 71 marked a nostalgic return to the Stevens Favorite concept, celebrating one of the most beloved single shot rimfire designs of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Produced in a strictly limited quantity of 1000 rifles, these commemoratives were aimed squarely at collectors and enthusiasts who appreciated classic American single shot rifles rendered with modern manufacturing quality.
