This lot features a WWII-era Western Bx-54 "Bushman" 9.25" fighting knife, a variant of the iconic V44 bailout knife developed for U.S. Army Air Corps personnel. These large-format knives were intended for survival use in the field, offering a robust Bowie-style blade capable of heavy utility work as well as defensive application. Western Cutlery was one of the principal manufacturers of these knives, and their production examples are well regarded for quality and durability.

The knife is fitted with a wide clip-point blade featuring a long fuller and is marked "WESTERN" at the ricasso. The blade shows honest service wear with a darkened patina, scattered pitting, and visible finish loss consistent with age and use. The edge remains well defined with a strong profile. The steel guard is intact, and the black composition handle with finger grooves is secured by three pins, showing handling wear and age but remaining solid overall.

Included is the original leather sheath with metal-reinforced tip and belt loop assembly. The sheath shows moderate wear, dryness, and surface scuffing consistent with period use. The retaining snap on the sheath is broken off. Both the knife and sheath have the initials "AIH" carved, adding a layer of personal history that may reflect field or service ownership. This is a classic WWII survival knife with strong visual presence and undeniable historical character.
