Sights/ Optics: The front sight is a blade dovetailed into the front of the slide. The rear sight is a "V"-notch integral to the rear end of the slide.
Stock/ Grip Configuration & Condition: The grip panels are two-piece checkered wood with smooth borders. The grips have even light handling wear with only a few minor marks. The checkering is well defined. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Very Good-plus condition.
Type of Finish: Blue
Finish Originality: Arsenal Refurbished, the slide, frame and barrel have matching serial numbers.
Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright with sharp rifling. There is infrequent minor erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: The pistol retains about 85% of its current metal finish. The finish is thinning at most edges. The balance is mostly handling wear in the grip areas. There is a little light wear in the slide. There is some scattered minor surface oxidation and infrequent faint erosion. There are a few little nicks and minor scratches. The action shows light operational wear. The screw head is tool marked with a strong slot. The markings are clear Overall, the pistol is in Very Good-plus condition as refurbished.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: Borrowing features from both the Roth-Steyr 1907 and the Colt 1900-1911 series of pistols, the Steyr M1912 is a rotating-locking barrel, internal magazine semi-automatic pistol. The pistol is frequently referred to as the Steyr-Hahn or "Steyr Hammer" due to its external hammer. The pistol was an Austro-Hungarian sidearm during WWI with other contracts for sales to Chile and Romania.
This example was still in Austrian inventory after Anschluss when many were converted to 9mm Parabellum for use by German police. The pistol was originally made in 1918 and was issued to the Austrian Wiener-Neustadt Land District in 1918 prior to being converted to 9mm for use by police under the administration of Germany. The pistol is in about Very Good-plus condition with 85% of its finish remaining, matching numbered parts, a nice bore and strong mechanics. This pistol is in really nice condition for having survived inter-war Austria, Anschluss and a world war, though it would likely not have seen any front-line action. There were only about 60,000 Steyr-Hahns converted to 9x19mm for police use, and far fewer are still in existence today. This rare variation should be a big hit with collectors of WWI and WWII pistols and those used by the Axis in particular, especially with its matching numbers. Please see our photos and good luck!
