Sights/Optics: The front sight is a blade with two protective wings. The rear sight is a pattern 1917 leaf sight graduated from 200 to 1600 yards.
Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is two piece wood in the standard 1917 configuration. The buttplate has moderate handling wear. The cleaning kit storage compartment is empty. The furniture shows normal pressure dings, scuffs and scratches. The stock bares an Eagle Head assembly mark and Raritan Arsenal inspection/rework mark. The LOP measures 13.5" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There is a faint crack running from the upper tang. The furniture rates in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is grey and the rifling is still well-defined. There is light erosion and two large spots of pitting visible in the bore. The muzzle erosion measures 0.10. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 5.5/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 85% of its arsenal refurbished metal finish. The finish shows edge wear, light scratches, and spots of thinning. The screw heads show light tooling and retain turnable slots. The markings are mostly clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Good to Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This World War I Eddystone Model 1917 was manufactured in 1918 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic firearm. Produced at the Eddystone plant, the U.S. Model 1917 became the primary battle rifle of the American Expeditionary Forces during the latter part of World War I. Based on the British Pattern 1914 Enfield design and adapted for the .30-06 Springfield cartridge, the M1917 earned a reputation for exceptional strength, reliability, and practical battlefield accuracy. Although this rifle remains largely correct, it incorporates two later replacement components resulting from U.S. military arsenal service.
Chambered in .30-06 Springfield with a 26 inch barrel, this rifle features an arsenal-refurbished configuration. All major parts are correct except for a World War II replacement bolt manufactured by United Shoe Machinery Corporation and a replacement front sight assembly manufactured by Remington. Such replacement parts are consistent with U.S. military rebuild practices and reflect the rifle's continued service life. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 5.5 out of 10, showing moderate wear with visible rifling remaining. The action functions correctly.
