Sights/Optics: The front sight is a Winchester 97A Type 1C sight atop a ramp with a hood. The rear sight is a Winchester 80A peep sight. The top of the receiver is grooved for an optic (none present).

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a type #8369A with a round forend. The stock is wood, the buttstock has a straight comb, semi-pistol grip, and checkered hard rubber Winchester buttplate. The buttplate shows light wear. The furniture shows light wear with some scattered pressure dings and surface scuffs. Most notable is some light scuffing around where the stock meets the buttplate. The LOP measures 13.5" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are no chips or cracks. This furniture rates in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There is faint surface oxidation in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its metal finish. The finish is very strong only showing a few scratches and small spots of oxidation. The muzzle end of the barrel shows faint freckling. The chrome on the trigger, trigger guard, and bolt is fairly strong showing light oxidation and handling wear. The screw heads are lightly tooled and retain strong slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This is a high condition late production example of Winchester's long running Model 69A rimfire. Approximately 95% of the original blue finish remains, with the metal surfaces showing strong, even color and only minimal handling wear. The 25" barrel gives the rifle a classic, well balanced sporting profile and an excellent sight radius, and the stock retains clean lines and finish consistent with careful use and storage.

Mechanically, the rifle is excellent. The bore rates 9 out of 10, bright with sharp rifling, indicating light use. The action functions correctly and shows the smooth, controlled bolt operation that made the Model 69A a favorite among hunters, target shooters, and small game enthusiasts for decades. The multi cartridge capability for 22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle adds practical versatility, a hallmark feature of the series.

As an early 1959 Type 8 rifle, this Model 69A represents the mature refinement of Winchester's mid century bolt action rimfire design. With strong remaining finish, a high quality bore, and correct mechanical function, it stands as a well preserved and very desirable example of one of Winchester's most respected sporting rimfires.
