Sights/Optics: The front sight is a hooded beaded blade dovetailed into a base fixed to the barrel. The rear sight dovetail has a blank inserted. An adjustable Lyman aperture is screwed into the left side of the receiver. The receiver also has a pair of filled taps for mounting an optic. No optic is included.
Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The refinished furniture is one piece wood with a fluted straight comb, checkered semi-pistol grip, checkered forend, sling swivels at the front and rear, and a checkered metal buttplate. The buttplate shows moderate handling wear. The furniture shows only some minor pressure dings and drag lines. The LOP measures 13.75" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are no chips or cracks. The furniture rates in Very Good Plus condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There is light erosion scattered throughout the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 8/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 85% of its original metal finish. The finish shows light edge wear, scattered scratches, and some faint oxidation spots. There is a light ding on the right side of the barrel near the chamber. There is also some stock resin present on the right side of the barrel and receiver from when the stock was refinished. The screw heads show faint tooling and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Winchester Model 54 "NRA Standard" No. G5421C was manufactured in 1933 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic firearm. Introduced in 1925, the Model 54 was Winchester's first successful modern bolt-action sporting rifle and served as the direct predecessor to the legendary Model 70. Today, original Model 54 rifles are highly regarded by collectors for their quality craftsmanship, controlled-round-feed Mauser-style action, and historical significance in Winchester's bolt-action lineage.
