Sights/Optics: The front sight is a Lyman globe sight with a post insert dovetailed into a ramped base fixed to the barrel. The rear sight has been removed and a dovetail blank has been inserted. A Lyman adjustable aperture screwed into the left side of the receiver. The stock has been cut to accept the aperture. The top of the receiver is tapped to accept scope bases, though none are present.
Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is one piece wood with a fluted straight comb, checkered semi-pistol grip, checkered forend, and a checkered metal buttplate. The buttplate has moderate handling wear. The furniture shows pressure dings, scratches, and a couple nicks in the forend. The LOP measures 14" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are no chips or cracks. The furniture rates in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp with light fouling. There is faint erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 8/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 92% of its original metal finish. The finish shows patina on the floorplate/trigger guard, light scratches, faint finish staining, and some faint freckling. The screw heads range from lightly tooled to unmarred and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Winchester Model 54 was manufactured in 1933 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Winchester, the Model 54 was Winchester's first successful modern bolt-action sporting rifle and served as the direct predecessor to the legendary Model 70. Introduced in 1925, the Model 54 established many of the design principles that would later make the Model 70 one of the most respected sporting rifles in history.
Chambered in .30-06 Springfield with a 24 inch barrel, this rifle is configured for one of the most proven hunting and sporting cartridges ever developed. The .30-06 earned its reputation through military service and decades of successful use on game throughout North America and beyond. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 8 out of 10, indicating solid internal condition with good rifling. The action functions correctly.
This rifle retains approximately 92% of its original metal finish, presenting a strong and well-preserved example for its age. The furniture rates in Very Good condition with no chips or cracks noted and only typical handling wear.
