Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade pinned to a base integral to the barrel. The rear sight is a folding carbine style ladder sight, dovetailed to the barrel. The upper tang is drilled, tapped, and filled for a tang sight.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two piece smooth wood with banded forend, straight grip, straight comb, with a steel carbine buttplate. There is modest handling wear. There are scratches, nicks, and compressions. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP is 12 3/4" from the front of the trigger to the rear of the buttplate. The plate has been reblued and shows no wear. The stocks have been refinished. Overall, the stocks are in Very Good condition as refinished.

Finish Originality: Refinished.
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp where not interrupted by erosion. There is light scattered erosion, concentrated toward the muzzle end. In writer's opinion the bore rates 6/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 80% of its current metal finish. The balance of the finish is strong throughout having turned to a slight plum hue on the receiver. There is minor erosion under the new finish. There is thinning on the leading edges. There is mottled patina. The saddle ring and the bottom tang have a much stronger blue than the rest of the rifle. The screw heads are lightly tooled but serviceable. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The hammer has a half-cock safety position. The trigger is crisp. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Browning’s Winchester Model 1892 adapted the strong twin-locking-bolt system of the Model 1886 to a compact action suited to Winchester’s revolver-length cartridges, replacing the older Model 1873 as the company’s principal pistol-caliber repeater. Produced in rifle, carbine, and musket configurations, the Model 1892 earned an enduring reputation for smooth operation and fast handling. This 1918 Saddle Ring Carbine has the classic 20" round barrel, full-length magazine, folding ladder rear sight, banded forearm, and steel carbine buttplate configuration, while its .32 W.C.F. chambering offered mild recoil and practical utility for small game and general ranch use.
This carbine retains about 80% of its current refinished blue finish, with light edge thinning, underlying erosion, mottled patina, and a plum tone developing on the receiver. The refinished stocks remain in Very Good condition with modest handling wear and no chips or cracks. The bore is bright with sharp rifling where not interrupted by erosion concentrated toward the muzzle and rates 6/10. The action functions correctly with a crisp trigger and functional half-cock safety. Although refinishing limits its originality, the desirable saddle-ring carbine configuration, classic .32-20 chambering, and sound mechanics make it an attractive representative Winchester with considerable Old West character.
