Action Type: Top-Break Over-single Shotgun with Single trigger and Ejector. The safety selector appears to be set to only fire the top barrel first. The bottom hammer will still fire.

Markings: The left side of the barrel set is marked “WINCHESTER “DIAMOND GRADE” TRAP - 12 GA.-WINCHOKE 2 ¾” -EAST ALTON IL. U.S.A.”. The left of the monoblock is marked “W/C”, and the barrel with an ovalled “WP” proof. The bottom of the bottom barrel is marked “WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL”. The bottom of the monoblock is marked “549464 12-2 3/4”. The right side of the barrel set is marked “MADE IN JAPAN”. The top of the forend iron is marked “549464”, the inside of the forend wood is marked “9464”. The top tang is marked “DG549464E” and “S O”. The receiver, trigger guard, exposed portions of the forend iron and the barrel shoulders have decorative scroll engraving. The buttpad is marked “WINCHESTER”. The bottom of the receiver is marked “Diamond Grade WINCHESTER”. The inside bottom of the receiver has several proofs and “94”.

Barrel Length: 34” ported barrel.

Choke: The barrel is threaded for WINCHOKE chokes. Currently installed is FULL.

Sights / Optics: Atop the serrated high rib is a white bead front sight with a small white mid-bead sight.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture set on this shotgun includes a checkered walnut forend with a rounded profile and a full length finger shelf. The stock is a semi-pistol grip stock with fluted straight comb, checkered grip, and a black rubber buttpad. The length of pull is 14.5”, the drop at comb / drop at heel is 1.5”. The shotgun weighs 8lbs 4.3OZ. The stock has a very tasteful wood diamond inlaid in the top of the wrist. The wood shows some minor scattered marks mainly on the forend. The forend shows a notable compression on the upper right edge. There are no visible chips or cracks. The buttpad is soft and shows only minor wear. Overall the furniture set is in about Excellent condition.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The smooth bore is mirror bright with no erosion. There are no real visible lines or plastic fouling in the forcing cone. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 99% of its metal finish. The barrel shows almost no signs of handling or wear other than some minor rub wear from the forend. The receiver shows no notable marks. The jeweling on the sides of the block of the barrel shows some minor rub wear from use that is concealed when the action is closed. The front of the posts on the rib shows some surface rust as do the edges where the barrels meet the monobloc. The markings are clear and the screw heads are sharp. Overall the shotgun is in Very Good+ condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The barrels lock up to the receiver with no play. The safety does not engage automatically when the action is opened, and does function properly when engaged manually. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
