Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed to the barrel. The rear sight is a u-notch elevator sight dovetailed to the barrel. The tang is drilled, tapped, and filled for a tang sight (none present).

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two piece walnut with round 17-groove pump grip, straight wrist, straight comb, and Winchester checkered plastic buttplate. There are no chips or cracks. There is light handling wear. The LOP measures 13 1/4” from the front of the trigger to the rear of the buttplate. Overall, the stocks rate in Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The action shows faint operation wear on the magtube and action bar. There is subtle thinning on the leading edges. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements. There is a takedown screw on the left side of the frame.

Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 62A is a classic American rimfire rifle, renowned for its simple design, reliable pump-action operation, and the ability to chamber .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle cartridges. This example, made in 1941, retains about 98% of its original blued finish with only the faintest signs of use. The bore remains bright with sharp rifling, and the original stocks are remarkably well-preserved, showing crisp edges and very little wear.
