Vintage WWII Kampfpistole Rifled Barrel Flare Pistol Made By Walther Circa 1941. This very unique flare pistol was intended to fire both flares and lethal ammunition. Included in this lot is an inert Nebelpatrone smoke grenade that was intended to be used with this model flare gun. The unique part of the grenades designed for this pistol are the rifled exterior of the round designed to interface with the riled barrel. This flare pistol is marked with the Walther 359 waffenamt and an eagle over an upside down heart with a fir tree inside; the civil test approval mark for the region of Zella-Mehlis, Thuringia. The same mark is stamped on both barrel and frame. This pistol has a 26.5 mm bore that will clean to bright with sharp rifling.

The Kampfpistole was a single shot, break action, flare gun designed and produced by Walther that was a variant of the earlier Leuchtpistole 34. Externally both the Kampfpistole and the Leuchtpistole 34 were nearly identical. The difference between the two models was the Kampfpistole had a rifled barrel while the Leuchtpistole 34 was a smoothbore gun. The Kampfpistole could be identified by a Z engraved on the barrel of the gun. The Kampfpistole's frame was machined from duralumin, the barrel was machined from steel, was blued to stop corrosion, and had Bakelite pistol grips
