The George Lawrence Leather Co. of Portland, Oregon was established in 1857 during the early days of the Old West, and for over a century, they were world renowned for producing top of the line leather saddles, pistol holsters, and belts. This Vintage 1940s George Lawrence S&W K-38 Masterpiece 6" Revolver Holsters & Knife Sheath Double Rig is in Very Good Condition, with only some scattered scratching, darkening, and age wear evident. Most interestingly, the left and right hand holsters are an exact mirror matching set, crafted in the classic “rawhide laced loop” design, with folded over and dual snap closure skirts that also act as the belt slides, bear incredible hand carved basket weave tooling all along the fronts, and are stamped at the lower backs with their model numbers, “122B” and “X122B” (the latter being the left hand version), their maker and leather quality, “GEO. LAWRENCE CO. / STEERHIDE / PORTLAND, ORE.”, and the models and barrel lengths of revolvers for which they were intended, “K38 / 6”. The rig is complete with a matching “basket weave” tooled and rawhide laced leather knife scabbard with a fully functional metal “glove” snap closure leather handle retention strap, which is stamped at the upper back with its model number, “20”, its matching maker, “GEO. LAWRENCE CO. / PORTLAND, OR.”, and the blade length in inches for which it was intended, “6”. The belt also bears incredible hand carved basket weave tooling throughout, and is stamped at the left front with its matching maker, "GEO. LAWRENCE CO. / PORTLAND, OR.”, and the model number, “15B”. The belt measures 37" long overall x 1 3/4" wide, carries a fully functional metal front buckle closure, and the set is constructed of tough, rigid, yet fairly supple brown saddle leather.
