The fact that the United States, of course combined with the efforts of the other members of the “Big Four” (Britain, Russia, and China), fought and defeated Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan at the height of their nefarious powers, is an incredible testament to the might of the American war machine, from the front lined armed forces to the manufacturing and rationing effort on the home front. The US government printed a variety of “propaganda” posters to encourage the best effort of folks on the home front to support the war effort, ranging from buying war bonds, to putting forth maximum effort at their jobs, to simply reminding the American people that the United States had always fought for freedom. This US WW2 Home Front "AMERICANS will always fight for liberty" Framed Original Propaganda Poster is in Very Good Condition, with three vertical fold lines running down the left, middle, and right, three horizontal fold lines running across the upper, middle, and lower, some small surface tears at the upper left and middle left intersections of those lines, a pair of small metal prongs protruding the lower portion of the gray paper backing, and with some light overall age wear evident. Most interestingly, it remains beautifully matted in a massive 50 1/2” x 39” dark brown wood frame, sports a plastic covered hanging wire across the upper back, and boasts a crisp illustration at front, with “AMERICANS / will always fight for liberty" printed in large gray and black lettering within a white area at the lower front, and a powerful tableau of a column of US Army infantrymen of WW2 passing a formation of Continental Army soldiers, more specifically George Washington’s troops clad in tattered uniforms after facing a harsh winter encampment at Valley Forge, with “1778” in white above the rebelling colonists, and “1943” in gray above the GIs. It carries the name of the illustrator, “B. Perlin” (Bernard Perlin), neatly printed on the flintlock patch box of one Continental Army trooper, bears “U.S. GOVERNMENT PRINTING OFFICE” and the date of “1943” printed in small black font at the bottom right front corner, and exhibits “Office of War Information, Washington, D.C.” amid some other information printed in small black font at the middle bottom front.
