Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two piece hard rubber panels with checkering. The grips show very light handling wear. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips rate in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is grey and the rifling is worn. There are spots of oxidation throughout the bore. The forcing cone is cracked. This bore should not be fired through. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 2/10.
Overall Condition: This firearm retains about 10% of its original metal finish. The finish shows heavy losses with scrub marks, patina, spots of oxidation, and light pitting. The cylinder is engraved "PVT SARAH R. WAKEMAN / MASS VOLS U.S.A." in reference to the female Civil War soldier. Obviously, this firearm has no relation to her as it was made at least 54 years after her death. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this firearm rates in Poor condition.
Mechanics: The forcing cone is cracked and this gun should not be fired. The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This U.S. Revolver Co. Double Action Solid Frame revolver was manufactured between 1918 and 1935 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic firearm. Produced by Iver Johnson's Arms & Cycle Works under its U.S. Revolver Co. trade name, these revolvers were marketed as affordable, dependable sidearms for personal protection and utility use. The solid-frame design offered improved strength over many earlier top-break revolvers and reflected the continuing evolution of American double-action revolvers during the early 20th century.
Chambered in .32 S&W Long with a 4.4 inch barrel, this revolver was intended as a practical defensive and recreational firearm. The cylinder is engraved "PVT SARAH R. WAKEMAN / MASS VOLS U.S.A." in reference to Sarah Rosetta Wakeman, the woman who disguised herself as a man to serve in the Union Army during the Civil War. However, this engraving is entirely commemorative or decorative in nature, as this revolver was manufactured at least 54 years after Wakeman's death and has no historical association with her. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 2 out of 10. The forcing cone is cracked, and this revolver should not be fired. The action functions correctly, but the cracked forcing cone renders it unsafe for use.
