Sights/Optics: The front sight is a hooded post dovetailed into a base fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is a folding ladder u-notch sight.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The refinished furniture is two piece wood in the standard 1896 configuration. The buttplate is in the white and shows light handling wear. The furniture shows scattered pressure dings, scuffs, and scratches. The LOP measures 14" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are a couple cracks running from the buttplate and two more running from the nose cap. The furniture rates in Good to Very Good condition.

Finish Originality: Refinished

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp with light fouling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 85% of its nonoriginal metal finish. The finish shows light edge wear, freckling on the floorplate, minor scratches, and no finish on the buttplate. The screw heads show little to no tooling and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
